17 April
The day began with a very interesting and insightful
lecture from David Priilaid. David showed us the first half of a very
interesting and insightful video by Michael Porter regarding competitive
advantage in Companies, and Counties.
Very important and interesting notes were pointed out by Michael Porter.
Such points regarding clustering and the way in which certain clusters
contribute to each other based on their own specific strengths. Michael Porter
talks of “the Diamond” and the four contributing factors contributing towards competitiveness
and in turn, success. Such points are
strategy, structure and rivalry; demand conditions; related and supported
industries; and factor conditions.
This class followed with a group meeting regarding
the way in which we are going to approach product production and the way in
which we are going to start making serious steps towards getting our product
out into the market. We set up a meeting to meet with Gabrielle Frazer (our
designer and possible producer). The meeting time agreed upon was the coming
Sunday, and it will be then that we discuss Gabrielle’s expectations, our
expectations and how we can come to an agreement in which we are both happy and
satisfied. This is essential as we need to have a healthy working relationship
to last in order to produce quality products in the desired time, at the
desired price.
